The science and art of relationships

Hi everyone, My name is Avigail Abarbanel. I am a psychotherapist and am very excited to be one of the speakers at Change Your World Conference – Glasgow 2018 on Saturday 5th Oct 2018. (Please note the new date change, not 8th Sept as originally scheduled) Tickets are on sale now via the CYW Facebook page or Eventbrite.)The focus of my talk will be relationships. Why are they so difficult? Why do we get so triggered in relationships and what can we do about it? And what about toxic relationships? When is it right to walk away? I come from a neuroscience perspective and will be able to build on other talks at the conference. We are not bad or mad. We all do our best with what we know and what we have. We are challenged and triggered the most in our most intimate relationships and there are very good neurological reasons for that! That’s why as hard as relationships are, they do give us a chance to heal our past, and grow into the people we can become…I bring twenty years of clinical experience as an individual and relationship psychotherapist and am joining a wonderful and fascinating line up of speakers.

A Chat with Hazel Kahan: “Liberate our Language”

Back in September 2016 I gave an interview to Hazel Kahan on her radio program ’Tidings’. Our chat was about the way we use our language in relation Israel and Palestine. In particular, how easy it can be for any of us albeit unwittingly, to perpetuate misinformation and confusion about Palestine just by the way we use our language. Hazel contacted me after reading my Mondoweiss article The Palestine-Israel Language Trap.
